Sodium Cromoglicate

Sodium cromoglicate (also known as cromolyn sodium) is a mast cell stabilizer. It works by preventing the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation and allergic symptoms, such as histamine. It is used as a prophylactic (preventative) treatment and is not effective for relieving acute asthma attacks or acute allergy symptoms once they have started.

Dosage by Body Weight

Must be taken regularly to be effective. For eye drops: 1-2 drops in each eye 4 times daily. For nasal spray: 1 spray in each nostril 3 to 4 times daily. For oral capsules (food allergy/mastocytosis): administer 15-20 minutes before meals, dissolved in hot water and diluted with cold water.
